A Brief Discussion on the Principle and Development Application of Water Permeable Inorganic Waterproofing Agent |
The domestic Type I water-based penetrating inorganic waterproofing agent M1500 and Type II water-based deep penetrating crystalline permanent solution [DPS] have different JC standards. In fact, their internal reaction principles are the same, both of which are penetrating waterproofing, anti-corrosion, and moisture-proof.
Mechanism of action:
Both DPS and M1500 are alkali activated chemical penetrants. According to the testing report of the Solid Shield Laboratory, the alkali content inside a concrete block is at least 361 times that of the surface area. Therefore, the penetration of DPS into concrete and its chemical reaction with alkali is not only very effective, but also its products become a permanent part of the concrete, not just the surface coating. At the same time, the catalyst in the permanent curing liquid DPS also promotes its penetration through the surface of concrete or the aggregates inside, and searches for moisture to react downwards.
Under the joint action of water and alkali in concrete, silicon gel is formed immediately at all voids and on the wet surface of particles (sand, aggregate and cement). As long as there is water and alkali, this reaction will continue. After a long time, this layer of silicon gel will be hydrated into a solid, breathable and glassy material, which can prevent water and moisture for a long time, and improve the surface hardness and compressive strength of concrete.
At the gaps and particle surfaces, the permanent condensate DPS reacts with alkali in water. Due to capillary action, a layer of hard gel is formed, which fills all voids and pores under the concrete surface.
Permanent condensate DPS has affinity for water, promoting its flow in voids and pores, forming more viscous adhesive, covering more voids and pores, and completely filling small voids. This process is repeated until the concrete is completely sealed. Sealed concrete can still 'breathe'.
Convenient construction and simplified procedures in engineering
The solution does not need to be diluted or mixed with ingredients. Apply the original solution directly to new or old concrete using any method such as brushing, rolling, coating, spraying, etc. (old concrete only needs to remove surface dirt, and the concrete permanent setting liquid can penetrate), cement products, or mortar coating layer, achieving full and uniform penetration of the entire construction surface in one go, which is considered complete.
Not affected by damp base, it can be applied on both the upstream and downstream surfaces. Therefore, it is very suitable for leak repair projects in existing building basements, bathrooms, saunas, etc. At present, water leakage in construction projects is still the most common quality problem, and repairing leakage is often much more difficult and costly than waterproofing new buildings. The permanent condensate DPS is not only waterproof and reliable, but also its appearance and color do not affect its use.
Greatly simplify the construction process and accelerate the construction progress. When used for basement waterproofing, it can save the mortar leveling layer below the bottom waterproof layer and the fine stone concrete protective layer on the waterproof membrane layer. Save the mortar leveling layer at the bottom of the wall waterproofing layer and the protection outside the waterproofing membrane layer. When used for waterproofing in toilets and bathrooms, it can eliminate the need for two layers of protection under and above the waterproof coating. After spraying the solution on the concrete slab, it can be used as a floor finish. The concrete surface treated with the solution will not have a film, and it is alkali free, dry, smooth, and significantly improves the bonding with the decorative layer, thereby greatly extending its service life.
Reliable quality and long waterproof life in engineering
Due to the permeability of the permanent solution DPS, it acts on the alkali inside the concrete, so it will not decompose or wear out, and can provide long-term waterproofing, sealing, and curing for the concrete. The chemical reaction between the infiltration of permanent solution DPS into concrete and alkali is not only very effective, but its products also become a part of the concrete body, providing long-term protection for the concrete.
The polymerization effect of permanent condensate DPS is extremely good. After treatment, the concrete surface can strengthen the bond between the poured or repaired concrete, preventing the detachment of the surface layer.
The spraying of permanent curing solution DPS can evenly cure newly constructed concrete, resist local drying and hair cracks. The penetration of solution still has a repairing effect on the surface cracks of cured concrete. Cracks in the structure need to be treated according to regulations.
In addition, the waterproof layer is not easily damaged after formation and does not require special protection on the surface. Compared to other waterproofing methods, the protection of finished products is much more convenient. If there are chiseling problems caused by other reasons during construction, they can be repaired and sprayed on site afterwards.
