DPS waterproof mechanism
July 19th, 2024

Penetrating crystalline waterproofing agent DPS (also known as permanent setting liquid DPS) is a concrete water-based penetrating crystalline inorganic waterproofing agent that integrates hydrophilicity and water absorption. Its waterproofing mechanism is to react chemically with free alkali in the concrete, generating stable dendritic crystalline gel, which can effectively block micro cracks and capillary pores inside the concrete, making the concrete structure have long-term waterproof function, better compactness and compressive strength, and providing good breathability for the concrete. Concrete exposed to rainwater, salts, and chemical agents over the years will slowly corrode and deteriorate, even leading to structural failure. DPS can greatly reduce the influence of these factors on concrete and effectively protect it.

DPS is a hydrophilic waterproof material, and the new standard JC/T1018-2020 specifies that surface watering will not form water droplets. Most of the materials that form water droplets are organic silicon materials, which do not have internal crystallization function and do not have water pressure and permeability resistance. For example, spraying organic silicon on water permeable walls is useless.
